LONDON -- The Chinese Olympic delegation are in full support of the World Badminton Federation's decision to disqualify eight players for trying to lose matches, said a statement on Wednesday afternoon.

Chinese pair Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli are among the eight players expelled from the Olympic women's doubles event for deliberately losing points on Tuesday's matches in order to have an easier draw in next round.

Also disqualified were Jung Kyun-Eun, Kim Ha-Na, Ha Jung-Eun and Kim Min-Jung, all of South Korea, and Meiliana Jauhari and Greysia Polii from Indonesia.

"It has been learned that Chinese badminton players Yu Yang and Wang Xiaoli were disqualified by the WBF because they tried to lose a match on purpose. Chinese delegation fully respect WBF's decisions," said the statement.

"The behavior of Yu Yang and Wang Xiao violated the principles of the Olympic Movement and went against the spirit of fair play."
