Beijing Xiaoguan community use multiple ways to fight virus

Beijing has been making full use of the communities' force to fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia, mainly to reduce the infection risks and cut spreading.

Based on the local staff and social workers, many communities have been carrying our multiple ways to fight against the new virus.

Xiaoguan Street in Chaoyang district, for instance, has 65 residential communities covering 1,111 families with 2,454 residents.

Hong Guangxin, Party head of Xiaoguan Street, said they formed nine work groups immediately after the city government asked the whole administrations in different levels to work with full responsibility to prevent the virus spreading.

In just a few days, they have got information of 959 institutions and companies in the region and 888 migrants who got back to Beijing from their hometowns during the Chinese Lunar New Year, according to the Street.

Multiple ways were adopted by the communities to ensure the public's daily needs, meanwhile strengthening the management on people's travel information and keeping the environment clean and safe.

Some communities in Xiaoguan Street put QR code on each residential building to let every migrant to fill in their travel information. The social workers of the street will input all the information every day and double-check with each person via phone call.

A WeChat account is employed to send useful knowledge about the new virus and how to protect themselves to each resident in the area.

For people who are not used to read on mobile phones, such as the elderly people, the social workers have posted a letter to each resident to every apartment in their region.

An emergency call has been set up and there is people on duty 24/7 to receive calls from residents. No matter they report health condition, or ask for someone purchase daily use, there are always people there to give a hand.

Hong said they have been following the information and changes of the market supply to ensure people get enough daily goods.
