Wuhan has fully resumed construction on eight key transportation projects, and more than 95 percent of express delivery sites have resumed operations, Changjiang Daily reported.

Wuhan is speeding up its economic and social development, said deputy mayor of Wuhan Liu Ziqing at a work conference on Wednesday.

The projects are intended to improve city services. Six expressway projects, such as the northern and eastern sections of the Fourth Ring Road, Wuyang, and Qiaoxiao II, are among them.

The Hanjiang River waterway improvement project III has also resumed work to widen the waterway, as well as the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport project IV, which will help the aviation hub take off.

At present, 80 percent of logistics enterprises above designated size have basically resumed operations.

For the express delivery sector, which is closely related to people's livelihood, Wuhan has resumed operations in an orderly manner, said Xu Bin, director of the transportation bureau of Wuhan.

As of April 14, among the 4,468 express delivery sites in the city, 4,288 have resumed operations, with a work resumption rate of 95.97 percent.

A total of 2.31 million pieces of mail and parcels were picked up, 86.1 percent compared to the same period last year; 2.92 million parcels were delivered, 138.1 percent compared to the same period last year.

Since Wuhan lifted outbound travel restrictions on April 8, the city has resumed operation of railways, airport, highways and parts of public transport lines in an orderly manner.

It's predicted that by the end of April the city will fully resume capacity of railway and air cargo, and enterprises involved in waterway and road freight transport will fully resume production by then.
