Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of a special moment in history — the beginning of Ping-Pong Diplomacy between the United States and China in 1971. A year later, President Richard Nixon visited China for the first time, a visit that eventually led to the normalization of bilateral ties.

"None of our member companies would be here today if not for that magic moment of bilateral diplomacy 50 years ago," said Greg Gilligan, chairman of AmCham China. He also emphasized that AmCham will continue to advise both governments on issues of greatest importance and help lay the foundation for the next 100 years.
