Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr., the chairman of the IOC coordinating commission for Beijing 2022, said at a digital press conference on Oct 9 he was happy and proud to see Beijing has dedicated enormous attention to sustainability, delivering on the promise of a carbon-neutral Games.

Expressing gratefulness to the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, Samaranch said, "they are going to deliver extraordinary games even in a very challenging period."

Samaranch heaped praise on local organizers, saying: "BOCOG has done a great job organizing the test events. International organizations and athletes delivered positive feedback on the venues.

"China has enocourage more people to embrace winter sports, and the Playbook is an important guarantee for safe Games," Samaranch Jr. said. "The IOC will closely coordinate with BOCOG to ensure a successful Winter Games."
