Spokesperson: HK CPPCC members constructive in COVID-fight

Guo Weimin, spokesperson for the fifth session of the 13th National Committee of the nation's top political advisory body, expressed confidence on Thursday that Hong Kong will win its battle against its worst-ever wave of COVID-19 with the central government's strong leadership, support from the whole nation and concerted efforts of the Hong Kong community.
In a press conference, Guo said the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference has attached great importance to Hong Kong's pandemic situation and its members have played different roles in supporting the city's COVID battle.
Apart from the pandemic situation, they played an active role in promoting Hong Kong's long-term stability and prosperity by supporting the city to integrate into the nation's development and bringing forward constructive suggestions for various issues such as patriotic education and boosting entrepreneurship, Guo said.
The annual session of the CPPCC National Committee will start on Friday in Beijing. Many Hong Kong members of the CPPCC National Committee have arrived in Beijing to attend the annual session.
Guo said a dozen Hong Kong members were fighting at the forefront of the anti-pandemic battle and were unable to attend. He revealed motions and bills put forward by the Hong Kong members have been received. Those who were not able to attend for health or other reasons will attend the annual session online and will not miss out, he added.
