Eight close contacts and three secondary contacts have been identified and quarantined, while the testing of 5,443 people with exposure risks is currently underway, said Zhao Dandan, deputy director of Shanghai Health Commission.
The infected woman, 65, resides in Songjiang district. The compound of her residence in Chedun township has been marked as high-risk zone and put under lockdown.
Gu Jieyan, vice-governor of Songjiang, said the local government will ensure the supply of daily necessities for the 1,834 households in the compound, the disinfection of related places, and the testing and closed-loop transportation of four students who will take the city’s high school entrance exam next week.
