"Inner Mongolia has made new achievements in safeguarding national energy stability and security," said Wang Lixia, chairwoman of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, at the Inner Mongolia plenary meeting held during the third session of the 14th National People's Congress in capital Beijing on March 6.

The event underscored the growth and confidence that is currently in evidence in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region and was covered by 29 domestic and international media outlets.

It featured an engaging discussion where journalists posed questions on key issues, including energy industry upgrades, cultural and tourism development, major infrastructure projects, trade cooperation with Mongolia, and State-owned enterprise reforms.

Deputies including Yang Jin, Jin Zhijun, Gong Mingzhu and Luo Qing provided insightful and candid responses.

Chairwoman Wang outlined Inner Mongolia's development achievements in 2024 in several key areas.

She said the growth rate of the region's major economic indicators had ranked among the top in China for three consecutive years now, with the region's total economic output returning to the national mid-range after five years.

Inner Mongolia also took the lead in coal supplies, electricity transmissions and the production of beef, lamb and dairy products. In addition, more than half of China's grain, meat and milk supplies came from the region — and its green energy and computing power were increasingly being utilized across the country.

Inner Mongolia's industrial structure significantly shifted, with the added value of non-coal industries growing 8.2 percent — accounting for over 60 percent of the region's total industrial output.

Inner Mongolia made substantive progress in 2024 in environmental conservation, completing 45.8 percent of the national Three-North Forest Shelterbelt Program. Moreover, grasslands were restored through conservation policies, and resource efficiency in land and water usage was improved significantly.
