Firm support for Venezuela expressed

President Xi Jinping said on Friday that China always views and develops its relationship with Venezuela from a strategic and long-term perspective, and will continue to firmly support the Latin American country in safeguarding its state sovereignty, national dignity and social stability.

Xi made the remarks when meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

China and Venezuela are good partners who trust each other and enjoy shared development, Xi said, adding that the two countries have developed an ironclad friendship amid changes in the international situation.

Since the establishment of an all-weather strategic partnership in 2023, the two countries have witnessed vigorous exchanges in various areas and at all levels, a continuous increase in bilateral trade and new progress in investment cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, Xi said.

China stands ready to strengthen exchanges on governance experience with Venezuela and continue deepening bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields, he added.

Xi said that China hopes to work with Venezuela and other Latin American countries to uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law.

Maduro said that China is a great friend of Venezuela, and that he appreciates China's support for Venezuela in safeguarding its sovereignty and achieving economic and social development.

Venezuela looks forward to working more closely with China in the fields of trade, energy, agriculture, science, technology and education, he said.

He added that Venezuela stands ready to strengthen collaboration with China to uphold multilateralism and international justice.
