A Chinese citizen surnamed Zhong, who wound up stuck in Myanmar after being lured to Bangkok with the promise of a modeling opportunity, was recently rescued thanks to efforts from multiple parts, according to a statement on the website of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

In the statement, the embassy urged Chinese citizens to be wary of high-paying jobs abroad and gave a reminder that all foreign citizens working in Thailand must obtain the corresponding permits.

According to previous reports from the Guangzhou Broadcasting Network, Zhong's older sister found that her brother had gone missing in early June and sought help from police in Guangzhou and Bangkok, who launched an investigation.

The sister said her brother, who had just graduated from college, received an invitation to shoot a magazine cover and flew from Guangzhou to Thailand on June 8, where contact was lost.

The sister then flew alone to Thailand on June 11 to look for her brother. At 8:00 pm on June 13, she received a WeChat video call from her brother, and they chatted for 15 minutes.

The brother claimed that he had been deceived and brought to Myanmar, but did not disclose the specific location, according to the sister.
