Intl ambassadors appointed to promote China's ecological civilization achievements

To mark the 17th World Oceans Day and the 18th National Ocean Awareness Day, East China's Jiangsu province launched its 2025 Coastal Cleanup and Marine Protection Campaign last month. Part of the objective of the campaign is to share China's ecological civilization achievements with the rest of the world.
In addition, 10 international student representatives have been appointed as "Lianyungang Beautiful Bay International Ambassadors" as part of the "Beautiful Jiangsu — Blue Initiative for Rivers, Lakes and Seas".
Liu Jian, director of media think tank activities at Xinhua Daily in Jiangsu, said that as a pioneering province in coordinating marine economic development and ecological preservation, Jiangsu aims to demonstrate its cutting-edge marine governance technology and boost "harmonious human-ocean coexistence", inspiring broader participation in marine ecological conservation.
During the launch event, the formation of an "Eco-Observer Delegation" comprising think tank experts, international representatives and mainstream media staffers was also announced.
Through field research, visual documentation and academic seminars, delegation members will systematically decode Jiangsu's innovative practices in marine ecological governance, sharing China's ecological civilization achievements with global peers.

Launch attendees were given a tour of a vessel that houses multiple professional laboratories, with technicians highlighting the precision and significance of marine ecological monitoring. Guided by the crew, the international students operated equipment to collect water samples and analyzed real-time data.
Liu said Jiangsu intends to leverage these "sharing" events to demonstrate its cutting-edge marine governance technology while deepening its commitment to "harmonious human-ocean coexistence" through immersive engagement which inspires broader participation in marine ecological conservation.
