The Sixth China Xizang Trans-Himalaya International Cycling Race will be held from Aug 6 to 10 across the four cities of Lhasa, Nyingchi, Lhokha and Shigatse in Xizang autonomous region.
Co-hosted by the General Administration of Sport, China Media Group and the Xizang autonomous regional government, the premier event features a single men's road cycling category.
Eight international professional teams and nine domestic teams will join in the competition, with more than 100 athletes registered.
The opening ceremony will take place at Lhasa's Potala Palace square on Aug 6, followed by a four-stage race beginning Aug 7. The closing and awards ceremony will be held in the Samdrubze district of Shigatse on Aug 10.
As Xizang's highest-level international cycling competition, the race has earned national acclaim, including a place in China's Top 10 Sports Tourism Boutique Events in 2020.
Now upgraded to a UCI 2.1 elite-level race, the 420.58-kilometer course is not only a sporting challenge, but also a showcase of Xizang's dramatic landscapes and its development over the past 60 years.
It is said to serve as a powerful platform for telling Xizang's evolving story to the world.
