BEIJING - Chinese shares close higher Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index inched up 0.13 percent, or 3.06 points, to end at 2,308.93.

The Shenzhen Component Index picked up 0.06 percent, or 6.35 points, to end at 9,802.32.
