The spirit of Chinese Valentine's Day is felt by the Uygur ethnic group in Jiashi county in Kashgar, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region as a couple in the county got married during Thursday's festival.
Kashgar, the westernmost city in China, was the center of Uygur civilization for centuries, a place where people came together to trade and spread Islamic learning, on the caravan routes from Europe and Persia to China.
Kazak herdsmen pack their tents and transport their livestock to greener pastures in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in September, 2007, ahead of the arrival of winter. It is a tradition for them to migrate between summer and winter pastures annually.
Sayram Lake, renowned as a pearl on the mountain, is the largest and highest alpine lake in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
