Top green company sponsors German pavilion at world Expo

Henkel supports innovative and sustainable business

Henkel, a global leader in the adhesives, cosmetics, and homecare sectors, will showcase its advance in innovation and sustainability at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

Henkel are the official sponsor of the German Pavilion at the Expo. The company's sponsorship of the German Pavilion and its "balancity" theme - held under the broader context of the Expo's theme "Better City, Better Life" - will underscore the ways in which its products have contributed to the betterment of lives worldwide, the company said.

"We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of the German Pavilion, because we see this as a perfect match with Henkel's business philosophy," said Faruk Arig, Henkel China President.

The company ranked as one of China's top 10 green companies in 2009, and offers a broad array of products implicitly tied to the quality of daily lives, such as cosmetics, solar alternative energy resource, electronics, and automotive products.

The German Pavilion, and the Shanghai Expo in general, provides an unprecedented opportunity for companies to showcase improvements and innovations made in response to the growing global necessity for quality, sustainable products.

The German Pavilion has been christened "balancity" - a newly coined word signifying a city in balance. Visitors will embark on a journey through a city of ideas, moving around as they would in a real city - on foot, moving walkways and escalators - through thematic areas representing different urban spaces.

The journey starts at the Harbor and leads through a Garden and a Park, via a Town Planning Office, past the Depot, the Studio and the City Square to the "Energy Source", the city's power plant.

A city can be a good place to live - if it provides a balance between renewal and preservation, innovation and tradition, urbanity and nature, community and individual and work and leisure. That's the message of the German Pavilion.

Another highlight at the Expo is Henkel's success in the Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCV) noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) study, the results of which have been applied in the production of the 2010 Expo cars.

This HFCV research study proves that Henkel NVH solutions can successfully contribute to the new energy concepts of the automotive industry. Moreover, the Henkel solution now grants access to all renowned OEMs.

Henkel is truly excited by the prospect of being able to appreciate, celebrate, and contribute to a global synthesis of innovative and sustainable ideas via its participation in the Expo, the company said.
