Husband bites off wife's nose

Upset over his wife seeking a divorce, a savage man in Pingdingshan, Henan Province, bit off the woman's nose in court in front of the judge, reports Dahe News.

Late last year, Teng Jianhui was taken to court by his wife who asked for a divorce. To vent his anger, Teng suddenly took out a knife and attempted to stab the woman without success.

His next movement was even more stunning - he caught the woman's nose with his mouth and bit it off and stamped up and down on it.

The woman was rushed to hospital immediately, but the man was only arrested on Monday.

Farmer's savings reduced to shredded pieces

A farmer in Nanjing of Jiangsu Province, who hid 20,000 yuan (US$2,400) in grain, did not expect the cash would get accidentally shredded.

Liu Jun, 29, the former World Amateur Go (weiqi) Championships title holder, died of a heart attack on March 16 while taking a bath at home, reports Shanghai Morning Post.

Liu was found lying dead in the bathroom by his foster parents that afternoon and doctors said the cause was a sudden heart attack - his father died the same way when Liu was only 4.

After quitting the national Go team because of heart disease in 1992, Liu twice grabbed the amateur title and was teaching Go before he died.
