Costa Rica surprised Chile in injury time to advance to quarter finals, with unfortunate Bolivia ending as worst number three.

With five minutes left to play in the first half, Olarra opened the score in Chilean favour but in the second half the Costa Ricans got one back when Wright hit the net three minutes before the hour mark.

A 1-1 final score would have allowed Bolivia to advance to the next round but in injury time the shock was complete as Herron struck past Chile's goalkeeper for 2-1.

Costa Rica, who lost the first two matches, clinch the third position and are second-best number three. Bolivia, who were stuck at two points in Group A, seemed to be going through but the late goal meant their elimination.

The Costa Ricans, one of the two invitees of this Copa America, will now face title defenders Colombia in the quarter finals. Brazil and Paraguay battle for first position in Group C later tonight. The winners of the group will face Uruguay in the next round while the runners-up play against Mexico.
