Militants free six from seized Russian school

Militants freed three women and three children Thursday afternoon from the seized school in southern Russia, a regional official said.

Lev Dzugayev, an aide to the North Ossetian president, told reporters that three women and three children were freed. A crowd of waiting relatives and friends immediately swarmed around him in an attempt to find out information about who was freed.

An Associated Press Television News reporter saw soldiers escorting two women and at least two children away from the school. The children were in the soldiers' arms.

Heavily-armed militants are holding more than 350 hostages after seizing the school in North Ossetia, a region bordering war-torn Chechnya.
