Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has confirmed the Red Devils have not made an approach for Real Madrid winger Luis Figo.

The Portuguese veteran has just a year left on his contract and, although reports suggest Real would be willing to release the 32-year-old early, Queiroz insists United have not made an enquiry.

However, the former Real coach is confident Figo will be snapped up by another of the game's biggest clubs should he become available.

"We have made no contact with Figo but I am sure that he would have a place in all the top sides in the world," he said on Spanish television.

"If he had any problem at Real Madrid he would have at least 30 teams interested in his services."

Queiroz also rubbished speculation Barcelona were ready to make a move for United's Cristiano Ronaldo, claiming the young Portuguese winger is a key factor in the Red Devils' plans for the future.

"I do not know anything but Cristiano is a Manchester United player and I think that he will stay here until the end of his career," he added.

"There is no reason to speculate about his future. All the players from United that are in our plans for the future will not leave the club. Ronaldo is fundamental because our project for the coming years is based on players of his quality."
