SADDAM ON TRIAL

Up to five witnesses are set to testify when the trial of Saddam resumes on Monday, as the prosecution pushes ahead with a case that is drawing mounting local and international criticism.

Missing, however, will be one of five judges; he stood down, court officials said, after realizing that one of the defendants may have been involved in killing his brother some years ago. An alternate magistrate would replace him on the bench.

Iraq's national security adviser, Mowaffaq al-Rubaie, said a cache of rockets found in Baghdad were part of a plot to attack the courthouse. No details of the alleged plot were available.
