Background: 互聯網創始人倫納德·克蘭羅克教授在互聯網四十周年慶祝演講中說,他當初從未料想過這一網絡系統會出現黑暗的一面。他說,初期的互聯網是在一種相互信任的文化中運作的。
Forty years ago, a team of engineers sent a message from a computer in Los Angeles to a terminal in Palo Alto.
It was supposed to read "login". But only the first two letters arrived.
Nevertheless, it was the first time computers talked to each other.
Now, the man who led that experiment, Professor Leonard Kleinrock, says the internet has since developed a dark or negative side such as viruses and identity theft.
He says he and his team should have installed better protection for web users all those years ago.
Now, the internet is expected to take a huge leap forward.
The internet regulator that controls the world's web addresses is likely to approve domain names that go beyond the existing Latin-based ones.
