Scarlett returns to China

Wine fans in China lost one of our best wine bars when Scarlett, and the Hotel G that housed it, closed in Beijing last year. But the French-style cafe and bar lives on in Bangkok and now in Hong Kong, where the blackboard menus, metal and distressed-wood decor, open kitchen and winning wine cellar bowed in this month in the trendy enclave of Tsim Sha Tsui. The new location, with indoor and outdoor seating, promises the reasonably priced menu of good portions and prime ingredients: a large selection of tapas, pates and terrines, cheese and charcuterie boards, pasta, meat dishes and nightly chef specials. During lunchtime, the menu offers classic sandwiches and burgers, free-range organic rotisserie chicken, salads and pasta with a two-course menu for HK$88 ($11.35) and three-course menu for HK$98.
