DRC delegation visits Germany and UK

Zhang Laiming, Vice-President of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), led a delegation to Germany and the United Kingdom from June 6 to 12.
The delegation attended the third China-UK Bilateral Reform & Innovation Forum, the third China-UK Development Forum and the book launch of China and the World Economy: Transformation and Challenges. They also learned about the implementation of the German Industry 4.0 program and the development of the German vocational education system.

During the visit to Germany, the delegation visited the Byton Munich Design R&D Center to survey the development of new energy vehicles and smart cars. They also visited Bosch Group's Nuremberg factory to learn about the progress of the implementation of the German Industry 4.0 program and the Audi vocational education training center to study the German vocational education system.
The delegation met with Dr Beier, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), to exchange information on strengthening inter-agency cooperation.
During the visit to the University of Cambridge in England, Zhang attended the launching ceremony of the book China and the World Economy: Transformation and Challenges, the first publication of the China in the World series published jointly by the DRC and the university; delivered a speech at a welcome banquet hosted by Dr Ian White, Dean of Jesus College; attended the symposium China and the World Economy: Transformation and Challenges, where he delivered a speech and chaired the first session; met with Professor Peter Nolan, Director of the China Center of Jesus College; and exchanged ideas on cooperation in publication of the China in the World book series.

During his stay in London, Zhang attended the third China-UK Bilateral Reform and Innovation Forum co-sponsored by the DRC and the Royal Institute of International Affairs Chatham House (Chatham House), and delivered an opening speech. Robin Niblett, Director of Chatham House, also spoke at the forum.
Zhang attended the third China-UK Development Forum co-sponsored by the DRC and the UK Department for International Development, delivering an opening speech. He met with Penny Mordaunt, Minister for International Development of the United Kingdom, and Matthew Rycroft, Permanent Secretary of the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom, and exchanged views on strengthening inter-agency cooperation. He also attended a welcome dinner hosted by Rycroft and delivered a speech.
