    Sports Career:

    Sports career of this Olympic gold winner could be traced back to her primary school age, when Zhou Jihong first started practicing gymnastics. However, it was the time spent in Wuhan Amateur Sports School when Zhou changed her major to diving that discovered the talent of this future world Olympic diving queen. 1997, the same year that Zhou began her diving time, Zhou was selected to join the provincial diving team of Hubei Province, later in 1982 she enrolled in the national team.

    At Present:

    Retiring in July 1986, Zhou Jihong became the diving coach of provincial diving team of Hubei. Later in September 1986, she was enrolled in the English Department in Peking University and began her campus life. After 4-year study, the graduated kept coaching the national diving team. Since 2000 till now, Zhou has been work at the position of director of the National Diving Team.

    Zhou Jihong, the first Chinese woman ever to win an Olympic gold medal in the 10 meter platform diving event, as well is the first diving gold medalist for China.
