中國人民銀行副行長潘功勝表示，"上海金"基準價將為全球投資者(global investors)提供一個公允的(fair)、可交易的(tradable)人民幣黃金基準價格。世界黃金協會(the World Gold Council)首席執行官施安霂表示，無論對于上海金交所自身的發展，還是中國黃金市場國際化(the internationalization of China's gold industry)，"上海金"基準價的啟動都具有里程碑意義。該定價機制為由倫敦、紐約和上海共同構建的黃金交易市場三足鼎立的新局面夯實了基礎(It is a steppingstone to a new multi-axis trading market consisting of London, New York and Shanghai)，也標志著"西金東移"的趨勢仍將持續(signal the continuing shift in demand from West to East)。
