喜歡看《潛伏》的朋友們一定還在回味那充滿驚險(xiǎn)的戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)年代。而最近，美國(guó)宣判了基地組織的一名“潛伏特工”，但他的身份和潛伏進(jìn)國(guó)民黨軍統(tǒng)局的余則成有所不同。

A US federal judge Thursday sentenced a convicted al-Qaida sleeper agent who admitted having contact with the alleged mastermind behind the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to more than eight years in prison.
美國(guó)一家聯(lián)邦法院在上周四判處一名在押基地組織潛伏特工八年以上徒刑。這名特工承認(rèn)與9?11事件幕后的主謀有聯(lián)系。
文中的sleeper agent就是指“潛伏特工”，顧名思義，A sleeper agent is a spy who is placed in a target country or organization, not to undertake an immediate mission, but rather to act as a potential asset if activated.（潛伏特工就是指身居目標(biāo)國(guó)家或組織，并未立即開展行動(dòng)，但卻是潛在活動(dòng)的執(zhí)行者。）
我們平時(shí)常用secret agent表示政治和軍事領(lǐng)域的“特工”，而刺探對(duì)方情報(bào)的人則被稱為espionage（間諜）。此外，agent還可以表示“代理”，例如進(jìn)貨需要找commercial agent（代理商），但要謹(jǐn)防遭遇industrial espionage（商業(yè)間諜活動(dòng)）。目前很多國(guó)家發(fā)射了spy satellite（間諜衛(wèi)星）來(lái)監(jiān)視別國(guó)活動(dòng)。
